Good Buy or Goodbye? COSRX Clear Fit Blemish Cushion Foundation Review | Joel Minas

Hello!

I hope you all are well and inspired. Happy February to all! February means Valentines day! And that means being not just with your special someone, but also spending it with your family and Friends ❤

So, I’d like to start a new segment here on my blog where I try out different things and I give feedback whether if it’s a good buy or a goodbye. So without further ado, let’s get started!

Today, I’m reviewing the COSRX Clear Fit Blemish Cushion. Now you may be wondering, “COSRX is a skincare brand, right?”. I too was quite shocked at first because I didn’t expect COSRX to release a cushion. I did, with a little bit of research found out that they did release a cushion a while back (the COSRX Make Me Lovely Cushion Foundation). So how will this cushion foundation perform? Let’s find out

Here’s my Breakdown of the Product

  • Price

This retails for 1,200 Php and I got my cushion foundation from Lazada Philippines . It’s probably mid-tier in terms of the price and is honestly not bad. The Pony Effect Everlasting Cushion foundation (which I will make a review eventually as well) retails for about 40 USD (about 2000++ pesos) but comes with a refill so one downside is that for that price, you don’t get a refill. I hope that they would consider producing a version that would have a refill included.

  • Aesthetic

I am in LOVE with the design of this cushion. It’s not your typical round exterior. The rounded edges and the matte black finish gives this cushion a different feel than most and I really like it that it’s black making it gender-neutral. The puff that comes with it has a thick band which is good because it does not feel flimsy and it helps in making application much, much easier.

  • Shade Range

    Underwhelming, I know

I guess this is the biggest downside of this cushion. There are just two shades available… Just two. And the shades aren’t even that far apart from each other. So if you’re tan or have a dark complexion, I would not recommend this. I got shade #23 of course because I can’t do shade #21 unless I do several hundred glutathione shots.

  • Formulation

Foundation and Skin Care in One!

This cushion’s active ingredients are Centella Asiatica, Niacinamide, and Tea Tree Oil, all well-known as remedies for troubled skin. The cushion also has SPF 47 PA++ which is good for everyday but not really recommended for flash photography. Even under bright lights, (which you’ll see in a few) will make your face whiter than it naturally is so make sure to blend this to your neck if you’re slightly darker than the shade you purchased.

  • Finish

This cushion foundation has a demi-matte finish. Although I would still recommend you priming and setting your face for longevity. I tried using just the cushion on its own and it held up ok. Good thing I’m just inside the office and it’s cold but for our humid weather, I would definitely recommend you setting it.

  • Coverage

This cushion surprisingly has FULL COVERAGE. I was quite shocked when I tried this as this cushion really has full coverage, especially when using the puff it came with. You can sheer it out though by just applying the product on the center of your face and blending it out, or by using your damp sponge to press on the cushion and to apply it on the skin

Before and After! I’m Shook! :O

Good Buy or Goodbye?

This for me is definitely a Good Buy. The fact that it’s a skin care and a foundation in one is very nice, considering I have acne-prone skin. Plus it has SPF which is great for everyday wear. I don’t mind that it’s a full-coverage foundation because I can always sheer it out by putting less product and by using a sponge instead of the puff. In my opinion, it’s better to have a full-coverage foundation that you can sheer out than putting multiple layers of sheer foundation.

This is perfect for combination and oily skin and I would recommend using a moisturizing primer if you have dry skin because it dries down matte. The cons of course is the lack of shade range and since it has SPF, it’s not advisable for photo shoots with flash photography. But other than that, I really like this foundation and I would definitely buy this again.

So that’s it for this review! Do you have anything in mind that you’d want me to try next? Or do you have any questions? Please feel free to comment down below.

Thanks for making it this far! I hope you’re well and I hope to see you on the next one.
